How to Block Knitting

Basic Pattern Reading 101
Time: 1:00pm
Cost $25
Bring: Steno Pad
Tape Measure (inches one side/centimeters on other)
Gauge Checker (optional)
Pen or pencil
Highlighter
You will learn about all aspects of a written knitting pattern. The pattern will be provided, as well as swatches that you will need to check to determine if the needle size/yarn is correct for the project.
The pattern we will dissect is from a Sublime book, Daisy Flower Ballet Slippers.
Selvage Edge Stitch
Time: 1:00pm
Cost $25
You will learn how to make perfect edges that look good on scarves or
works great when you sew knitted garments together.
This is quick class that will greatly enhance your knitting skills
Prerequisites: Be able to cast-on, knit, and purl.
Please bring a light colored smooth medium weight yarn
that knits nicely on size US8 knitting needles
(the needles can be straight, circular, wood or metal).
You will make a swatch with an attractive edge pattern
that will be useful in all projects, including ones that change yarn colors.

Felted Bowl Workshop

Learn how to knit and felt these wonderful decorative bowls.
Fun to make, a great stash buster project, quick, and a great gift.
You must know how to knit in the round,
and the use of double points needles is helpful, but not mandatory.
Material list to be announced.
Mattress Stitch
Time: 1:00pm
Cost $20
Why is it that putting knitted items together seems to be a mystery?
Learn the basic mattress stitch for joining knitted pieces.
Prerequisites: Be able to make your swatches before class.
Please bring 2 swatches of stockinette stitch,
15 stitches wide and at least 5" long
and a blunt sewing-up needle. Also bring a contrasting color yarn.
During the Selvage Edge class,
we will be making these swatches.
You might want to take that class first and
save your swatches to use in this class.

Pattern Reading 201
Time: 1:00pm
Cost $25
Learn to read more complicated patterns.
If you are have a problem with a specific pattern, please bring it to class.
Prerequisite: Basic Pattern Reading Class
Bring:
We will review some basics about pattern reading and then
learn how to use diagrams to help understand the
shaping that the pattern requires. Question and answer session
will be included in class time.
The pattern we will dissect is from a Sublime book, Esme child's sweater.
Please call 813-792-5999 to register and for class details. All classes are limited to 8 people.
Payment is required at sign-up. You may be charged tax depending on the class.
We ask that due to people's allergies that you refrain from wearing perfume or cologne to class.
Please feel free to bring a beverage, but make sure it has a lid.
